Nove ragazzi speciali fotografano Palermo con Shobha...
Siamo andati in giro per Palermo, al mare, nei giardini, nei musei... Con una macchina fotografica in mano, nove ragazze e ragazzi down, pieni di entusiasmo e curiosità, si sono appassionati a raccontare fotograficamente angoli della città e persone, sminuzzando in tante coloratissime immagini le loro sensazioni senza timori o sovrapposizioni culturali. Semplici e diretti, ognuno di loro ha voluto raccontare nelle sue fotografie il suo mondo familiare, privato e anche quello del subconscio. Un filo d’erba sulla strada, frasi scritte sui muri, cassette rotte, fiori, statue, le unghie smaltate di rosso di una ragazza distesa sul parco, occhi, bocche, familiari, ortaggi, cibi cucinati, amici. Tutto fotografabile e spesso spezzettato in composizioni audaci. Ero proprio intenta a scegliere le immagini, tra le centinaia realizzate in questi mesi, da pubblicare in questo libro e da esporre, quando mi è arrivato l’invito pieno d'immagini del famoso fotografo inglese Martin Parr, non potevo credere ai miei occhi... Con stupore mi sono detta - ma queste sembrano le foto dei miei ragazzi! Nove ragazzi down che non avevano mai utilizzato, per esprimere se stessi, il mezzo fotografico e che, attraverso vie diverse da quelle di un artista affermato e maturo, erano giunti quasi allo stesso traguardo formale. Sono molto contenta del lavoro realizzato in questi mesi. Umanamente, un’esperienza unica. Fare fotografie è un’esperienza singola, ma in questo stage tutto è stato collettivo, anche il lavoro al computer, il giudizio, la scelta delle foto, con gli occhi, ma con tanto amore.

Nine special guys photograph Palermo with Shobha ...
We went around Palermo, to the sea, in the gardens, in the museums ... With a camera in hand, nine girls and boys down, full of enthusiasm and curiosity, were passionate about photographically telling corners of the city and people, comminuting in many colorful images their sensations without fear or cultural overlapping. Simple and direct, each of them wanted to tell in his photographs his family, private and even the subconscious world. A blade of grass on the road, phrases written on the walls, broken boxes, flowers, statues, the red enamel nails of a girl lying on the park, eyes, mouths, family members, vegetables, cooked food, friends. All photographable and often fragmented into bold compositions. I was really intent on choosing the images, among the hundreds made in these months, to be published in this book and to be exhibited, when I received the invitation full of images of the famous English photographer Martin Parr, I could not believe my eyes. .. with amazement I said to myself - but these look like the photos of my boys! Nine down boys who had never used the photographic medium to express themselves and who, through paths other than those of an established and mature artist, had reached almost the same formal goal. I am very happy with the work done in recent months. Humanly speaking, a unique experience. Taking photos is a single experience, but in this internship everything was collective, even the computer work, the judgment, the choice of photos, with the eyes, but with lots of love.
