DAI AI BAMBINI UN MOTIVO PER SORRIDERE_
Noi di Mother India school, associazione che porto avanti con Soraya e con un gruppo di donne dal 2007, abbiamo realizzato con l'aiuto all'associazione El Shaddai un piccolo workshop di fotografia a delle bimbe indiane, figlie di donne operaie edili che lavorano dentro i cantieri da generazioni.
Abitano in povere baracche costruite con roba riciclata dentro gli stessi cantieri edili per tutto il tempo della costruzione, al lavoro finito la famiglia lascia la baracca e si rimette in cammino alla ricerca di un altro cantiere e lavoro.
La vita delle bambine è circondata da polvere e povertà, ma anche tanta dignità, nelle baracche non c'è acqua corrente e le bimbe ogni giorno devono andare al pozzo per prendere l'acqua. La loro vita non è per niente facile, i genitori lavorano tutto il giorno e alle bambine tocca prendersi cura dei più piccoli della famiglia: dal cibo al bucato alle pulizie, mentre i figli maschi hanno il permesso di andare a scuola e di giocare al pallone.
Da generazioni queste famiglie sono nomadi, viaggiano per tutta l'India, si spostano da un cantiere all'altro, da una regione all'altra, da una capanna all'altra senza mezzi, usando bus e treni. Quando il cantiere si trova nel mezzo del nulla, le associazioni hanno molte difficoltà nel raggiungerli e le bambine spesso sono abbandonate a se stesse.
El Shaddai Charitable Trust si occupa di queste bambine con attenzione e amore, permettendo alle bimbe di studiare e quando è possibile di partecipare alle attività ludiche dell'associazione fuori dal cantiere.
"Con un piccolo workshop di fotografia, noi di Mother India School abbiamo dato un motivo a queste bellissime e dolcissime bambine di sorridere,di visitare i mercati, di condividere con altre bambine la loro storia e di fotografare il loro mondo.
El Shaddai Charitable Trust, fondato nel 1995, è una ONG certificata a Goa, con diversi progetti nei settori dell'istruzione, della protezione dell'infanzia, dell'emancipazione femminile e della difesa dei diritti dei bambini, in particolare degli emarginati, di quelli di strada e degli orfani a Goa.

We at Mother India school, an association that I have been carrying on with Soraya and a group of women since 2007, have created with the help of the El Shaddai association a small photography workshop for Indian girls, daughters of female construction workers who work in construction sites for generations.

They live in poor shacks built with recycled stuff in the same building sites for the entire time of construction, when the work is finished the family leaves the shack and sets off again in search of another site and work.
The life of the girls is surrounded by dust and poverty, but also a lot of dignity, in the shacks there is no running water and the girls have to go to the well every day to get water. Their life is not easy at all, the parents work all day and the girls have to take care of the smallest of the family: from food to laundry to cleaning, while the sons are allowed to go to school and play football. .
For generations these families have been nomads, traveling all over India, moving from one construction site to another, from one region to another, from one hut to another without means, using buses and trains. When the construction site is in the middle of nowhere, associations have many difficulties in reaching them and the girls are often left to fend for themselves.
El Shaddai Charitable Trust takes care of these girls with attention and love, allowing the girls to study and when possible to participate in the association's play activities outside the construction site.
