"La donna, una Rivoluzione dentro la Rivoluzione”
In ogni momento, Fidel aveva presente la donna, soprattutto la donna cubana che considerò un pilastro in ognuna delle “rivoluzioni” sociali, culturali, educative che ebbero luogo a Cuba. Fidel parlò molto delle donne e difese sempre per loro uno scanno nel Parlamento, in posti di direzione, e perfino, nella vita militare, ha preservato loro uno spazio.
Discorso pronunciato nell’atto di chiusura del II Congresso della Federazione delle Donne Cubane, Teatro Lazaro Peña, 29 novembre 1974.
“Io sono assolutamente convinto che la società guadagnerà di più nella misura in cui sia capace di sviluppare e approfittare delle qualità, delle capacità morali, umane e intellettuali della donna. Sono assolutamente convinto. E precisamente quello che distingue una società giusta, una società socialista da quella capitalista, è proprio questo”. Circa il 20% degli ufficiali dell’esercito cubano sono donne.
Dal 1959 le donne cubane fanno parte dell’avanguardia che ha portato avanti il processo di trasformazioni sociali della Rivoluzione. Non è un caso che, le donne costituiscono il 70% della forza tecnica dell’Isola.
Le cubane hanno avuto molto a che cedere con il Trionfo rivoluzionario, lottando dapprima contro la sanguinaria dittatura di Fulgenzio Batista della clandestinità e poi sulla Sierra Maestra. Donne emblematiche come Celia Sánchez, Aydeé Santamaría, Vilma Espín, Melba Hernández…
Oggi non esiste settore senza le cubane, compreso l’esercito, nel quale hanno raggiunto una presenza del 20% tra gli ufficiali; la maggioranza entra molto giovane nelle scuole militari a livello pre-universitario integrato al sistema nazionale d’educazione. Questi alunni a cuba sono chiamati “Camilitos” perchè la scuola è dedicata al Comandante Camilo Cienfuegos, scomparso in un incidente aereo al principio della Rivoluzione.
La Costituzione della Repubblica di Cuba sancisce questo diritto conquistato già da 45 anni e permette alle donne l’accesso, secondo i meriti e le capacità, in tutti i ruoli e impieghi dello Stato, come in tutte le gerarchie delle Forze Armate Rivoluzionarie – FAR- della sicurezza e dell’ordine interno.
Inoltre sono state adottate misure speciali per garantire il diritto delle donne a partecipare alle attività della difesa, come militari professioniste, per un periodo di due anni, o nelle Milizie delle Truppe Territoriali MTT o le Brigate della Produzione e Difesa. Nelle MTT, organizzazione armata che risponde alla dottrina della guerra di tutto il popolo, le lavoratrici, le donne di casa, le intellettuali e le studentesse costituiscono circa il 50%.
La presenza femminile non è certo mancata nelle innumerevoli missioni internazionaliste, anche in quelle militari, che hanno contribuito alla causa liberatrice dei popoli nel mondo e soprattutto in Africa.

At all times, Fidel was aware of the woman, especially the Cuban woman who considered a pillar in each of the social, cultural, educational "revolutions" that took place in Cuba. Fidel spoke highly of the women and always defended a bench for them in Parliament, in management posts, and even, in military life, it has preserved a space for them.

“I am absolutely convinced that society will earn more to the extent that it is capable of developing and taking advantage of the qualities, moral, human and intellectual abilities of women. I am absolutely convinced. And precisely what distinguishes a just society, a socialist society from a capitalist one, is just that ”.
About 20% of Cuban army officers are women.
by 1959 Cuban women were part of the vanguard that carried on the social transformation process of the Revolution. It is no coincidence that women make up 70% of the island's technical strength.

Today there is no sector without the Cubans, including the army, in which they have reached a presence of 20% among the officers; the majority enter military schools at a pre-university level integrated into the national education system. These students in Cuba are called "Camilitos" because the school is dedicated to the Commander Camilo Cienfuegos, who died in a plane crash at the beginning of the Revolution.
The Constitution of the Republic of Cuba establishes this right that has already been achieved for 45 years and allows women access, according to the merits and abilities, in all the roles and jobs of the state, as in all the hierarchies of the Revolutionary Armed Forces - FAR- security and internal order.
In addition, special measures have been taken to guarantee the right of women to participate in defense activities, such as professional military personnel, for a period of two years, either in the MTT Territorial Troops Militias or in the Production and Defense Brigades. In the MTT, an armed organization that responds to the war doctrine of all the people, female workers, housewives, intellectuals and students make up about 50%.
The female presence was certainly not lacking in the countless internationalist missions, even in the military ones, which contributed to the liberating cause of peoples in the world and especially in Africa.
